stripe dress

Hi!

We talked yesterday about the endless options when breaking up suiting separates to augment your work wardrobe. Now let me introduce you to the wonders of a frock when it comes to getting dressed and out the door in the morning. I have about 5 dresses that are my go-tos for times when I cannot quite manage matching tops to bottoms to shoes. They are sartorial life-savers for me and I know they will be for your maternity closet as well.

I love what Olian does when it comes to flattering designs for pregos! Check out this great dress. It’s better-than-basic black with the cool creamy stripes. Here’s where the magic comes in… The stripes draw attention to your shoulders, neck and face: away from any other parts you don’t love these days. The three-quarter length sleeves end at the same level as your waist creating some attention to a narrower part of your body. The knee-length gives you along leg line. Basically, it’s your miracle dress.

Lines We Love: Maternal America

MA dress

Hi!

I became a fan of Maternal America and their fashion-conscious line when I first started covering maternity clothing for Pregnancy magazine in 2006. Designer and Co-Founder Nataline Ngo-Ahmadi seems to totally get that women don’t want to give up their style for nine months while cooking that bun in the oven. She stays on top of trends in the traditional fashion world and interprets them into belly-friendly styles. I particularly love what they do for dresses – very versatile and great for post-baby too!

With details like embroidery, ruching and interesting sleeve styles like those of this Button Dolman Sleeve dress, Maternal American creates cool clothes you’ll covet even when not pregnant.

This dress is something you could absolutely wear now to work (especially in creative field) and into the fall to stretch your investment. I like it paired with suede ballet flats or shiny boots as shown here. With such cool details you can keep your jewelry simple and let your smile shine.

Happy shopping,

Erin

To The Maxi!

Ava dressHi!

I’ve bee wanting to talk about the wonders of the maxi dress for a while now but was waiting for just the right one. That wait is over because I’ve fallen hard for the Ava dress from Momzee. I’ve been a fan of LA’s Momzee for a long time. With their attention to drape and fabric as well as pattern and color, they get what looks good on the pregnant body.

A maxi dress is great because you basically feel like you’re wearing a nightgown but you’re dressed to go just about anywhere. It’s flowing, flattering and must-have for pregnancy as far as I’m concerned.

With the Ava dress there are so many great things to talk about. Let’s start with that stunning emerald green color. It’s perfect for dressing up to wear to a summer wedding. Paired with golden gladiator sandals and a pretty clutch you’re good to go.

The gorgeous keyhole detail brings the eye up to focus on your lovely face. That’s why I like it for a brunch setting too. When you’re seated you want the prettiest details of your clothing to be visible above the table and this fits that bill beautifully. Paired with a denim jacket (for AC-chilled restaurants) and chocolate leather sandals you’ll have all eyes on you.

Happy shopping!

See you in Miami Red Print Maxi DressWhen it comes to picking out the perfect maternity clothes for your summer wardrobe you know yo should have at least one or two maternity dresses!

Wearing a stylish yet free flowing maternity dress is a great way to stay comfortable during those hot months of summer.  Sometimes pants, even capris, just are not comfortable to wear when you’re feeling uncomfortable in the heat and humidity.

We love this See you in Miami Red Print Maxi Dress for it’s halter style with keyhole at bust. Also, the supportive cups make this dress very supportive.

Line We Love: Japanese Weekend

jw voile dressHi!

One of the fashion lines that we love around here at Due is Japanese Weekend. They really get that women want maternity clothing that feels fashionable – and comfortable – for the next nine months. With the watchword “versatility” Japanese Weekend creates great basics and special pieces to enhance your maternity wardrobe.

My picks include this summer must-have Cotton Voile Dress Go Skirt. The lightweight white fabric couldn’t be more heat-friendly plus you get two for the price of one as this easy tube dress can also be worn as a effortless skirt with a tank or tee.

As I’ve mentioned, I also love their 2-in-1 Woodland Top and Skirt. The cute black and white print goes with just about anything including simple leggings and flats or a cool tee and wedges.

If you’re looking for nursing gear that’s also fashion-friendly check out Japanese Weekend’s During and After line (d&a). From tops to dresses you’ll find looks that allow you to breast-feed without sacrificing style or comfort. I’m a fan of the During and After Dress in the fab color combo of charcoal, black and red.

Due Scoop Neck DressHi!

What’s better than finding an effortless outfit that’s cool, comfy and pretty? Not much and I’m sure it involves chocolate! That’s why I’m so in love with this Due Scoopneck Dress. Not only does it come in lovely colors like lilac or chocolate (hello!), but it’s nearly universally flattering styling means it may quickly become your new closet favorite.

Add pretty sandals and a cardigan and you’re ready for a Saturday of nursery shopping and movies. Pair it with a cool belt and some fun wedges and you’re prepped for the evening. Or add a jacket and you’re dressed to impress for work or the pre-school interview. The rayon/spandex fabrication also means it’s the perfect dress to pack for a weekend away. And at this price, how can you say no?

Happy weekend,

Erin
